Staff Accountant
About The Position
Our client is a well-established manufacturer in the medical device space, specializing in radiofrequency technology used in minimally invasive spine, orthopedic, and neurosurgical procedures. Backed by a global parent organization, the company combines the stability of an international group with the close-knit, hands-on culture of a smaller team. They are relocating to a brand-new office in Woodbury, NY, in the coming weeks. This is a hands-on operational accounting role offering broad exposure to the full accounting function. You will work closely with a Senior Accounting Manager and an AP/AR Specialist, gaining experience across general ledger, reconciliations, fixed assets, and month-end close. It is well suited to an accountant looking to build out their skill set, or a more experienced accountant ready to bring senior-level judgment to a role with room to grow.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- 3 or more years of accounting experience with exposure to general ledger, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accrual-based accounting
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working within an ERP system
- Sharp communicator who can think on their feet and work well cross-functionally
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment
Nice To Haves
- Healthcare or medical device experience is a plus but not required
Responsibilities
- Support month-end close processes and prepare complex journal entries
- Perform account reconciliations, including corporate credit cards and bank activity
- Process vendor payments and review employee expense reports
- Maintain fixed asset and prepaid expense schedules, including depreciation entries
- Monitor cash activity, customer accounts, and billing across multiple properties
- Analyze monthly financial results and investigate variances
- Support internal and external audits with documentation and analysis
- Identify process improvements to strengthen controls and efficiency
