About The Position

Greater Family Health is a multi-site federally qualified health center providing comprehensive medical, dental and behavioral health services within the Chicagoland area. Our mission is to provide quality, affordable health care for all including those without the ability to pay. We currently have health centers in Des Plaines, DeKalb, Elgin, Franklin Park, Hanover Park, McHenry, Palatine, Streamwood, Sycamore, and Wheeling. We are financially and programmatically stable and are continuing to grow. We are Joint Commission Accredited and are PCMH Certified. This is a great job opportunity for a Staff Accountant who is experienced. In this position, you’ll be able to contribute to your community and make an impact in a patient’s life. This position is responsible for the provision of high-quality clinical care for the patients of Greater Family Health.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in finance or accounting is required.
  • Excellent writing skills and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Working knowledge of PC-based and automated accounting systems and electronic spreadsheets.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is highly preferred.
  • CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully processes revenue and accounts receivable information according to Greater Family Health policies and procedures.
  • Successfully processes accounts payable information according to Greater Family Health policies and procedures.
  • Prepares accurate, timely financial reports on a consistent basis.
  • Efficiently maintains and prepares all financial materials in preparation for audits.
  • Assists with monthly financial statements including standard and adjusting journal entries.
  • Makes recommendations to develop, improve, and update the Center’s financial systems and procedures as necessary.
  • Gathers necessary information for completion of regulatory and grant reports.
  • Provides successful stewardship of Greater Family Health’s assets.
  • Reports to all scheduled work sites and shifts on time and fully prepared to engage in all job responsibilities; location of work sites and shifts will change at the discretion of the supervisor.
  • Engages in all offered training, consultations and supervisions made available.
  • Fully and professionally respond to and implement directives and advice offered by all supervisory and training personnel, as well as professionally offered feedback from coworkers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
