About The Position

Under general supervision, the Staff Accountant applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties, requiring a thorough knowledge of organizational procedures and precedents; and performs related work as required. This position requires the ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative. The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing support to the staff at the campus. The Staff Accountant accomplishes this through: Detail orientation and strong organization skills, excellent communication and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts and documenting business transactions.
  • Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings.
  • Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying information.
  • Supports timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all operational management accounts.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
  • Prepares documentation for external auditors.
  • Tracks and maintain fixed asset ledger by coordinating with Accounts Payable.
  • Prepare schedules for reporting of fixed assets.
  • Perform special projects and AD Hoc analyses as needed.
