About The Position

The Corporate Accounting group is responsible for the accuracy and clarity of CME Group’s consolidated financial statements. This team ensures our quarterly and annual reports meet all SEC requirements. As a Staff Accountant, you will support the day-to-day financial health of the organization by managing the close process and ensuring our financial records are precise and reliable.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a similar level of practical accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace and MS Office products.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail.
• The ability to communicate clearly and adjust to changing priorities in a professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries and perform general ledger reconciliations.
• Ensure all work meets internal standards and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
• Work directly with internal and external auditors, organizing documentation and providing necessary support to complete audited financial statements.
• Help the team meet monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines to ensure financial statements are issued on time.
• Take ownership of audits for our non-profit entities and ensure all required government filings are submitted correctly.
• Partner with stakeholders across the business to review financial trends and variances.
• Support process improvements, new business ventures, and foreign entity audits.
• Provide hands-on support for various accounting projects and ad-hoc requests as they arise.
