About The Position

mpathic is looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to own our day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close. This is a hands-on, ongoing role supporting a growing company — you'll work closely with the VP of Finance to keep our books clean, current, and audit-ready, including during an active fundraising process.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of accounting experience, ideally with a startup or small business, including full-cycle month-end close
• Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Bill.com (required)
• Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and closing asset/liability accounts, not just transactional bookkeeping
• High attention to detail and comfort working independently with minimal oversight
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for close collaboration with the VP of Finance
• Solid understanding of accrual-basis accounting

Nice To Haves

• Experience preparing books for fundraising due diligence or external audit
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices in Bill.com; code transactions to the correct budget/GL accounts, ensuring accuracy and proper timing; maintain 1099 vendor tracking and management (W-9 collection, 1099 classification, year-end filing support)
• Track receipts, code transactions, and reconcile monthly credit card statements using Bill.com and QuickBooks Online
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations across all company accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly
• Close out assets and liabilities each month; prepare balance sheet reconciliations
• Work closely with the VP of Finance on month-end close, flagging any anomalies or issues early
• Support the VP of Finance on special projects as needed
