About The Position

MEM Insurance is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their Finance team. This role is remote and involves supporting financial operations, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting. The position offers an opportunity to balance day-to-day accounting responsibilities with process improvement and cross-functional collaboration within a mission-driven organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience working with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • 1–3 years of accounting or finance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Analyze financial data and identify variances, trends, and discrepancies.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and internal reports for leadership.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proper documentation and compliance with accounting policies.
  • Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Monitor and maintain general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
  • Support special projects and initiatives within the Finance department as needed.
