Staff Accountant
About The Position
We are seeking a highly motivated Staff Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team. This role will perform a variety of corporate accounting activities, ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP reporting requirements, maintain internal controls, and support external audit activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid accounting foundation, and a desire to continuously learn and grow in a dynamic accounting environment. This position plays a critical role in monthly close activities, account reconciliations, revenue recognition, financial reporting, and audit support. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, ownership, and accountability.
Requirements
- 1–3+ years of accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
- Intermediate Excel skills, including basic formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Public accounting or audit experience.
- Experience with lease accounting, deferred revenue, or revenue recognition.
- Exposure to ASC 842 and/or ASC 606.
- Experience supporting external audits and preparing account reconciliations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and record journal entries as part of the month-end close process.
- Analyze financial transactions and investigate variances to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end close responsibilities.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts, including accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intercompany balances and other corporate accounts ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts to supporting systems and subledgers, investigate variances and discrepancies, and ensure all assigned reconciliations are completed within reporting deadlines.
- Support preparation of monthly management reporting packages and financial analyses.
- Prepare schedules and reports supporting internal and external financial reporting requirements.
- Support internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules, documentation, and account analyses.
- Assist with ad hoc financial reporting requests and special projects.
- Assist with SOX compliance and internal control documentation related to assigned processes.
- Ensure financial reporting is in compliance with company accounting policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen accounting processes and controls.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
