About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our finance/accounting team. This role is ideal for an early-career accounting professional looking to gain hands-on experience across general ledger accounting, internal controls, cross-functional collaboration, and financial operations. This position offers a hybrid schedule requiring 2 days per week on-site in our Garden City office and 3 days remote.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
0–2 years of accounting experience
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, basic formulas).
Solid understanding of GAAP and basic accounting concepts.
Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Capable of working under pressure and meeting targets and deadlines
Must be able to adapt to changing in process or deadlines

Nice To Haves

CPA track is a plus but not required
Familiarity with SAP is a plus.

Responsibilities

Prepare, record, and post monthly journal entries.
Perform balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure complete and accurate financial records.
Execute daily maintenance tasks over accrual balances, monitoring balances to ensure proper tracking, recording, and timely true-ups.
Review and assist with the approval of promotional accruals, ensuring proper documentation and proper accounting treatment.
Prepare schedules, support documentation, and work papers for quarterly reviews and year-end external audits.
Ensure documentation is compliant with internal controls
Partner regularly with other departments (sales, AP, operations)
Assist the Accounting Manager and Assistant controller with special projects and routine process improvements.
