About The Position

The Staff Accountant (CPA Student Welcome) supports the daily financial and accounting operations of Plantech Controls Systems and related entities. Working closely with the Controller and Finance team, this role contributes to financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close activities, budgeting support, and operational accounting processes. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a CPA student or accounting professional seeking hands-on experience across multiple areas of accounting and finance within a growing organization. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and motivated to develop their accounting career while supporting the financial success of the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Must be able to work full-time in the Vineland office
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to travel periodically to company locations within Ontario and British Columbia as required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information

Nice To Haves

  • CPA student enrolled in or actively pursuing the CPA designation preferred
  • 1–5 years of accounting experience preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing, project-based, construction, or multi-entity environments considered an asset
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Sage Intacct, Service Fusion, or similar accounting software preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments
  • Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Analyze financial information and identify unusual variances or trends
  • Prepare supporting schedules and reconciliations for management reporting
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as required
  • Assist with vendor reconciliations and customer account reviews
  • Review invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy
  • Assist in monitoring outstanding receivables and resolving discrepancies
  • Assist with inventory accounting, costing, and reconciliation activities
  • Support inventory control processes and inventory-related reporting
  • Partner with Operations and Purchasing teams to ensure financial accuracy
  • Assist with project costing and operational analysis as required
  • Assist with year-end audit preparation and supporting documentation
  • Support compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and financial system enhancements
  • Support special projects and organizational initiatives as assigned
