Staff Accountant - O&G Prop
About The Position
Formentera Operations is seeking an experienced accounting analyst to join our team. As an accounting analyst, you play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our oil and gas properties across multiple entities. This position involves maintaining various accounting activities, including capital expenditure accruals, purchase price accounting, depletion, asset retirement obligations, impairment, reserve report testing, and special projects. The accounting analyst collaborates with internal stakeholders to support decision-making processes, drive operational efficiency, and maintain accurate property balances. The ideal candidate will have a background in oil and gas property accounting, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
- CPA certification a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial accounting/reporting, with at least 3 years in the upstream oil and gas industry.

Responsibilities
- Prepare accounting entries on a monthly basis ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Perform variance analysis and investigate discrepancies to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare and analyze reconciliations and rollforwards.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide accounting information to support internal stakeholders in making business decisions.
- Support external audits providing documentation and explanations as needed to auditors.
- Assist on special projects as needed.
