About The Position

As a Staff Accountant, you are not just processing entries, you are the financial owner of promotional inventory accounting for two geographies. In this role, you will: Own the End-to-End: Serve as the lead accountant for an assigned company, managing everything from month-end close to working with year-end audit requests. Bridge the Gap: Actively partner with cross-functional teams and external system providers to ensure the integrity of our inventory and financial records. Grow Deeply: Gain deep exposure to core GAAP processes and a broad range of financial and operational departments and activities; build and display business acumen while working across and upward in the MSH family and with our partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with heavy concentration in accounting required
  • 0-2 years of accounting work experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Experience in inventory accounting
  • Proficiency in JD Edwards (or similar ERP system)
  • Knowledge of state tax compliance or tax exemption activities.

  • Pursuit of CPA certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare month-end inventory journal entries to ensure proper recording of revenue, cost of sales, inventory, receivables, and vouchered/unvouchered payables based on inventory status/shipment date.
  • Record monthly promotional journal entry for US, Canada, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, and Asia entities.
  • Prepare other journal entries and reclasses for interest, discounts, returns, samples, merchandisers, statistical AR & inventory balances and the lower of cost or market inventory valuation.
  • Complete account reconciliations monthly utilizing Oracle’s Account Reconciliation Cloud tool and prepare and lead quarterly balance sheet fluctuation reviews.
  • Review warehouse inventory reports vs general ledger and collaborate with contacts to resolve discrepancies.
  • Enter inventory adjustments and initiate debit/credit transactions in accordance with policy.
  • Manage insurance claim reporting, associated journal entries, and related federal tax filings.
  • Respond to audit requests specific to assigned company and promotional inventory activity.
  • Complete year-end packages and tax reporting for assigned company.
  • Review and approve accurate entry of item inventory value (SPIF) in system for assigned markets.
  • In partnership with warehouse leadership, coordinate the annual inventory of promotional products at all North America warehouses.
  • Participate in ad hoc special projects as required and other tasks as assigned
