About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for supporting various general accounting functions, with a strong focus on revenue recognition, fixed assets, journal entries, and sales tax reporting. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of accounting principles and a keen interest in developing their skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years progressive accounting experience (internships or co-op roles considered).
  • Basic understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Experience with or exposure to ERP/accounting systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Glovia ERP.
  • Proficiency with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, M365 Copilot)

Responsibilities

  • Revenue Recognition: Support timely and accurate revenue recognition in compliance with accounting standards and company policy.
  • Certify Compliance Review: Perform expense report reviews to ensure accuracy and adherence to internal controls.
  • Journal Entries: Prepare and post accurate journal entries as part of the monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Perform reconciliations of key balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.
  • Exemption Certificate Management: Review and remediate incomplete sales tax exemption certificates to ensure tax compliance and audit readiness.
  • Monthly Sales Tax Reporting: Compile monthly sales tax return data, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Fixed Assets Management: Track and reconcile fixed assets, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.
  • Cycle Count Audit: Support periodic inventory cycle counts and assist in reconciling physical inventory to accounting records.
  • Scrap Expense Review: Review and analyze scrap-related expenses, ensuring accurate recording and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Work-In-Progress (WIP) Review: Assist in monthly WIP reviews, analyzing production and costing data for accuracy.
