About The Position

This is a temporary contract role for 3 months, reporting to the Director of Finance. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for month-end closing procedures and preparing for the annual audit. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is organized, detail-oriented, an excellent communicator, and creative, with strong interpersonal and analytical skills and a passion for numbers, strategy, and people.

Requirements

• Computer literate in Microsoft Windows applications or relevant computer applications required.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities.
• Highly responsible & reliable to work on own and also as a team.

Nice To Haves

• Professional designation or acceptable university degree with an appropriate specialization in Finance is preferable.
• Hotel finance experience at a management level preferred.
• Knowledge of OPERA, point of sale systems, and hotel systems preferred.
• University/College degree in a related discipline an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist in compiling and preparing for the annual audit.
• Assist in the preparation of Financial operation statements and reports in accordance with Corporate Policy/Procedure.
• Assist in the preparation of Journal Entries and month-end functions.
• Maintain system accounts and controls, providing accurate data necessary for all required accounting reports and statements.
• Actively involved in ensuring clean internal and external audit reports.
• Oversee and manage income audit with support of the Director of Finance.
• Participate in the inventory process.
• Participate in the banking and credit card processes, payments, and reconciliations.
• Follow all safety policies and maintain a safe work environment.
• Adhere to all hotel systems and internal controls.
• Follow departmental policies and procedures.
• Any other tasks that may be assigned.
