About The Position

The Staff Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of Guidon's financial information. This position is responsible for supporting the monthly close process, maintaining the general ledger, preparing reconciliations and financial analyses, and continuously improving accounting processes and controls. In addition to core accounting responsibilities, the Staff Accountant serves as a trusted partner to Project Managers by providing financial guidance throughout the project lifecycle, helping ensure sound project financial management, accurate reporting, and informed business decisions. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, collaboration, and a commitment to delivering high-quality financial support across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience, with public accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
  • Experience in professional services, architecture, engineering, or consulting environments.
  • Familiarity with project accounting and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
  • Experience working with multi-entity organizations.
  • Exposure to ERP systems such as Deltek Vantagepoint, Unanet, or similar.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post complex journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and proactively investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Analyze financial results, identify trends or unusual variances, and recommend corrective actions
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for monthly and annual reports and tax filings
  • Maintain fixed asset and prepaid schedules, including depreciation and amortization
  • Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll transactions for accuracy and compliance
  • Assist with cash management activities, including bank reconciliations and cash forecasting for several accounts
  • Develop and improve accounting processes, controls, and documentation
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with other accounting staff
  • Serve as a trusted financial partner to Project Managers by providing guidance on project financials, contract administration, invoicing, collections, and project setup throughout a project’s lifecycle
