About The Position

Knight Insurance Group, a privately owned property & casualty group of insurance
companies, has an exciting opportunity for a career-minded, detailed oriented
individual to join a progressive and entrepreneurial insurance company with a
friendly but fast-paced work environment. The Staff Accountant will assist with
day-to-day statutory accounting, accounts payable, compliance filings and
finance duties. Must be a collaborative team player with a friendly, personable
demeanor, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a close-knit
Accounting environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
• 1+ years of general ledger reconciliation and accounting experience.
• Detail oriented and well-organized
• Ability to work in an environment requiring multi-tasking abilities
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
• Full-time position, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Flexible)

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience with medium volume Accounts Payable and Data Entry a plus
• Expert level of proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other financial reporting tools

Responsibilities

• Bank reconciliation
• Assist with insurance accounting including investments, reinsurance and compliance filings and quarterly/annual statement.
• Perform month end Accounts Payable closing procedures to ensure all transactions are complete
• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
• Assist with 1099 filings to IRS
• Assist with other duties and any special projects as assigned
• Strong interpersonal skills to work collegially and effectively with other members of the team. Ability to communicate successfully with affiliate companies.
• Works well under pressure, accepts responsibility for own actions and follows through on commitments.
