About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to manage the day-to-day financial operations for assigned locations. The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in overseeing financial activities, addressing financial inquiries, and providing expert financial guidance and support. This position requires close collaboration with the Finance Directors and building strong relationships with management. Additional responsibilities include preparing and recording standard month-end journal entries, assisting with the month-end closing process for all assigned locations, providing proactive communication to resolve any financial discrepancies or issues promptly, and assisting Directors and CFO with financial reports and other related tasks.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online, or similar accounting software.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with General Managers and internal teams.
  • Basic understanding of financial reports, including Profit & Loss statements, and the ability to reconcile accounts accurately.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in corporate or public accounting.
  • Familiarity with standard accounting practices and financial software, particularly QuickBooks Online.

  • Knowledge of multi-location businesses is a plus
  • Experience in the construction industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage and Categorize Transactions: Oversee the QuickBooks Bank Feed for assigned locations, ensuring accurate transaction categorization.
  • Bank Deposits Management: Record all bank deposits in QuickBooks using the deposit tracker for assigned locations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies by verifying checks and deposit amounts with appropriate management personnel.
  • A/R Aging Review: Monitor the weekly Accounts Receivable aging reports to identify overdue accounts and track collection efforts.
  • Payment Application: Accurately apply incoming payments (ACH, wires, and checks) to customer accounts in QuickBooks, ensuring all unapplied cash is investigated and cleared.
  • Variance Analysis: Assist in reviewing the monthly financial statements, performing variance analysis to compare actual results against budgets or historical data, and providing explanations for significant fluctuations.
  • Profit & Loss Report Review: Review the Profit & Loss by Customer report weekly to confirm that all job-related costs are assigned to their respective job numbers.
  • Journal Entries & Accruals: Prepare and record standard month-end journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation, to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Month-End Closing Support: Assist with the month-end closing process for all assigned locations, ensuring accuracy and timely submission of financial information.
  • Proactive Issue Resolution: Provide proactive communication to resolve any financial discrepancies or issues promptly, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Support for Directors and CFO: Assist Directors and CFO with financial reports and other related tasks as required, contributing to the overall financial strategy and planning.
