About The Position

As a Staff Accountant at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in overseeing day-to-day operational accounting activities for assigned manufacturing and company locations. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting practices, while providing the opportunity to directly support accurate financial reporting and compliance initiatives. You will collaborate closely with plant management and cross-functional teams to ensure financial transactions, reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities are completed accurately and efficiently. Requirements

  • 2+ years of accounting or analytical experience, preferably within manufacturing or finance environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Professional accounting designation or final-year candidate preferred.
  • Experience with SAP preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct finance support to plant management and operational teams as needed.
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset ledgers, including depreciation schedules and capital project reporting.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage cross charges between assigned companies and other Zekelman entities.
  • Review and investigate inventory values and process corrections with supporting audit documentation.
  • Support compliance with internal controls and assist with internal and external audits.
  • Lead monthly financial close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, analytics, commentary, and reporting.
  • Prepare budgeting and forecasting reports in collaboration with plant management teams.
  • Generate ad hoc financial reports and analyses as required.
  • Support the annual external audit process and provide requested documentation.
  • Lead and promote healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
