About The Position

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks including accounts payable, journal entries, account reconciliations, and assisting with the general ledger. This role also involves transaction processing such as daily cash receipts, payroll, and employee expense reports, as well as maintaining fixed asset and prepaid schedules. Additionally, the Staff Accountant will support compliance with reporting requirements, tax filings, and assist with external audits, while maintaining strict confidentiality and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with numbers
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Great Plains or other accounting software preferred
  • Public accounting and/or healthcare experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all accounts payable-related tasks
  • Prepare and record journal entries to ensure accurate accounting records
  • Perform account reconciliations to validate accuracy of financial data
  • Provide account variance analysis through research and documentation
  • Assist in maintaining the general ledger
  • Review, approve, and track employee expense reports to ensure proper payment and recording
  • Fleet Administration
  • Lease Tracking and Related Journal Entries
  • Prepare and record daily cash receipt entries
  • Prepare and record journal entries for payroll and employee expense reports
  • Prepare all journal entries necessary to support the month-end close process
  • Maintain fixed asset and prepaid schedules, including calculating and recording depreciation and amortization
  • Perform periodic bank and credit card reconciliations in a timely manner
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist in maintaining the chart of accounts
  • Complete special projects as assigned
  • Support compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings (Business Licenses, Property, S&U, Annual Reports, etc.)
  • Assist the Controller in coordinating information for external auditors during the annual audit
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of company proprietary information
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state laws related to: Protected Health Information (PHI), Electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI), HIPAA regulations
