About The Position

As part of the talented accounting team, the Staff Accountant is an integral part of Brunswick’s Business Acceleration Finance & Accounting team and will be responsible for maintaining proper accounting processes and controls for specific Business Acceleration entities. This position will work closely with the Senior Accounting Manager and accounting team to ensure that the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting processes are completed in a timely manner per GAAP requirements. The Staff Accountant will have key responsibilities for month-end close and account reconciliations of our Financial Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or business operations experience.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close processes, and basic tax reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organizational skills, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across all levels of the organization and provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a multi-entity or multi-location business environment.
  • Experience with QuickBooks and/or Oracle.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational efficiencies.
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes by preparing journal entries, running month-end reports, uploading entries into Oracle, and ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in the appropriate ledger
  • Perform weekly and monthly cash activity reconciliations, bank reconciliations, balance sheet account reconciliations, inter-company reconciliations and reviews of revenue, receivables, payables, joint venture equity investments, and recognized revenue
  • Process vendor invoices for Shared Services in Oracle and coordinate with Corporate Accounts Payable to ensure timely payment and resolve outstanding payment inquiries
  • Prepare and file required tax and compliance reporting, including sales and use tax, 1099 reporting, and other local, state, or federal reporting requirements as applicable
  • Provide financial statements, ad hoc reporting, variance and trend analysis, business performance insights, SG&A analysis, audit support, and earnings support as requested
  • Maintain Oracle Fixed Asset system by inputting asset additions and retirements for all business acceleration entities, running depreciation and monthly fixed asset reports, performing monthly reconciliations
  • Support special accounting projects, process improvements, automation, and redesign initiatives aligned with accounting and finance priorities
  • Demonstrate flexibility to take on additional responsibilities and partner cross-functionally to resolve issues, improve accuracy, and support timely financial reporting
