About The Position

The Staff Accountant is responsible for reconciling various general ledger and deposit accounts, managing daily positions with the Federal Reserve and correspondent banks, and supporting management and regulatory reporting. This role also involves reviewing and approving accounts payable invoices, preparing payment checks, and assisting with a range of financial and compliance reports. The Staff Accountant plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and supports the finance achieving organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Ability to reconcile all types of accounts and resolve outstanding items
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong follow-through to ensure timely completion of assignments and duties
  • Proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office systems
  • Experience with Banking core systems (Fiserv preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • B.S. in Accounting or several years’ experience in a similar accounting role

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile various general ledger and deposit accounts; research and resolve outstanding items in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain decision models for setting daily positions at the Federal Reserve and correspondent banks; buy and sell federal funds as required, posting corresponding general ledger entries
  • Serve as backup in balancing the general ledger and clearing related non-posts
  • Prepare reports and ensure accurate submission to the Federal Reserve Bank (i.e. FR2900)
  • Assist with preparation of quarterly Call Report, monthly Board reporting, and other management reports as requested
  • Prepare allocation entries for posting to the general ledger
  • Review and approve accounts payable invoices; prepare payment checks for distribution
  • Perform other duties as assigned
