About The Position

Insero is seeking to hire a Staff Accountant to join their growing practice. This is a full-time position based in their Rochester, NY office, with start date options in January, June, or October 2027. The firm is an accounting and business advisory practice with over 160 employees across New York State, serving a diverse client base including businesses, nonprofits, governmental entities, and individuals. Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and CPA eligibility required.
  • Staff Accountants typically have 0-12 months’ accounting experience (or equivalent experience as deemed appropriate by the firm).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-confidence.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working productively in a professional environment.
  • Conscientious, detail-oriented, and have excellent organizational skills.
  • Basic knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with financial/accounting software applications is a plus.
  • Internship assignments involving auditing or tax preparation experience are also a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Working on engagements primarily in Audit, but potential exposure to Tax or Outsourced Accounting based on individual interest.
  • Becoming familiar with the firm's policies, procedures, and technical resources.
  • Assisting team in conducting audits, reviews, compilations, and other assigned tasks.
  • Preparing assigned financial statements as needed.
  • Supporting the Senior/Manager by maintaining a good working relationship with client personnel and other team members and demonstrating an awareness of the client's business.
  • Promptly inform the appropriate person of any difficulties that you may experience with an assignment/task that could affect our scheduled deadlines.
  • Bringing issues for inclusion in the letter of representation or management letter to the appropriate Engagement Manager.
  • Performing and recording all work in compliance with our firm policies.
  • Developing an understanding of the standards of the profession and progress toward passing the CPA exam.
  • Assisting in administrative functions, practice development, and practice management as assigned.
