About The Position

The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of MonkeySports’ financial data. This position is responsible for a range of accounting functions including intercompany transactions, fixed asset management, account reconciliations, and support for month-end and year-end closings. The Staff Accountant ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and internal controls, contributing to the financial health and operational efficiency of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a retail or multi-entity environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and accounting systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with SAP and ERP systems preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience with multi-entity accounting and consolidated financial statements.
  • Knowledge of lease accounting under ASC 842.
  • Familiarity with audit coordination and preparation.

  • Experience in retail accounting or sports industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intercompany accounting and reconciliations across multiple entities.
  • Manage fixed assets and depreciation schedules in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare and maintain lease schedules and entries in line with ASC 842.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations, promptly identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Reconcile key balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and assist in implementing best practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support operational and financial reporting needs.
  • Assist with documentation and coordination during internal and external audits.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting and financial analysis for leadership as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive financial information.
