About The Position

Our Finance Department located in Queensbury, NY currently has a full-time, 40-hour Staff Accountant position available. This is an exempt position requiring work Monday-Friday during standard office hours. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required based on business needs. The Staff Accountant assists in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, spreadsheets, and reports. This role maintains accurate records, reconciles accounts, analyzes discrepancies, and supports annual budget preparation and variance analyses. The Staff Accountant manages general ledger transactions, fixed assets, CIP projects, loan amortizations, and tax filings, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements. Additionally, this position supports audits, CFR preparation, and financial reporting projects, providing timely and accurate information to support organizational decision-making. The ability to manage multiple priorities is essential to success in this role.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license that meets WWAARC insurability standards.
  • Minimum 4-year degree, in accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications; particularly, must have strong Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of auditing practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting and financial analysis.
  • Must be organized, accurate with great attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills; strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to read and compose business correspondence and to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and external parties, in a professional and respectful manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Abila (MIP) accounting software preferred.
  • Experience with CFR preparation and familiarity with Medicaid billing regulations preferred.
