About The Position

We are seeking a Temporary Staff Accountant to provide essential part time accounting and payroll support to cover a leave of absence. This role offers a flexible schedule while ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and timely payroll processing for a mission-driven nonprofit organization.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting and payroll.
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Ability to work on-site
  • High attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ADP Workforce and Sage Intacct preferred (or similar systems).
  • Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update accounting records and files.
  • Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries and monitor monthly accrual-based entries.
  • Assist with month-end close activities and budget vs. actual monitoring.
  • Assist CFO with all payroll tasks.
  • Record payroll activity in the general ledger.
  • Ensure timely payroll processing and respond to staff inquiries.
