About The Position

The Staff Accountant provides accounting and operational support across Canteen’s Vending, Market, and Office Coffee Service (OCS) lines of business. The position is suited to a detail-oriented and organized person who is eager to learn and grow in an operations-focused accounting environment. The successful candidate can work independently, manage multiple priorities, take ownership of responsibilities, solve problems, and take initiative. The role provides exposure to multiple areas of the business and opportunities for professional growth.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including lookup formulas and pivot tables.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize competing responsibilities.
Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions and learn.
Positive attitude, initiative, and desire for professional growth.

Responsibilities

Support accounts receivable activities.
Assist with payroll duties.
Prepare weekly and monthly reports.
Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Perform monthly inventory reconciliations.
Manage P-card activity and supporting documentation.
Process customer commissions.
Participate in cash room activities, including petty cash reconciliation and cash management.
Assist with fixed asset tracking and management.
Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
Support audits, compliance activities, data entry, and special projects as assigned.
