The Staff Accountant supports key financial operations by performing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures, reconciling bank statements, and assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and audits. This role involves P&L and KPI analysis, maintaining internal controls, and contributing to various accounting projects. Strong attention to detail, communication, and time management skills are essential. The Staff Accountant ensures data integrity across systems while upholding confidentiality and professional standards.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of general ledger with the ability to demonstrate an understanding of double entry bookkeeping in accordance with US GAAP; passing an evaluation is mandatory
  • High degree of professional skepticism and solid judgment skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate financial concepts and data
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years (preferred) experience in accounting

  • Extremely detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and especially critical thinking skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of the rest of the Microsoft suite
  • Working knowledge of applicable accounting systems
  • Experience with multi-state/multi-business unit entities
  • Public accounting experience a strong plus
  • CPA or CPA candidate a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end/quarter/annual close procedures
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budget and forecasting
  • P&L and KPI analysis
  • Serve as important contributor on accounting projects
  • Identify and maintain internal controls and procedures
  • Assist and interim and year end audits
  • Maintains data integrity of all Accounting systems
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to communicate financial concepts and data
  • Excellent critical thinking, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task and to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate
  • Maintains unwavering confidentiality and integrity
  • Performs other duties as required.
