About The Position

Carvana is revolutionizing the car buying industry and is looking for a high-energy Staff Accountant to join their team. This role, under the direction of the Tax Manager, will be responsible for gathering, compiling, and analyzing sales and use tax information, as well as reconciling General Ledger accounts using SQL and Microsoft Excel. The position offers full visibility into the business model and collaboration with other business units, with the opportunity to see immediate, tangible impact in a well-funded company.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience with an emphasis on filing tax returns (experience in Indirect Tax, preferred).
• Ability to collaborate among multiple business units and communicate effectively
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, IF Formulas).
• A sense of urgency and professionalism, with impeccable communication skills.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Indirect tax compliance, including but not limited to, multi-state Sales and Use tax filings.
• Compiling information from several data sources, analyzing tax liabilities.
• Querying financial data through SQL.
• Act as a liaison between multiple departments to resolve tax-related issues.
• Preparing Exemption Certificates.
• Managing Tax Correspondence.
• Researching complex multi-state tax and registration issues.
• Analyzing and improving processes surrounding Sales and Use tax compliance.
• Taking on Special Projects as needed.
