About The Position

The Staff Accountant supports the Company's accounting, payroll, and financial reporting functions through the preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, financial reports, payroll processing, and project accounting activities. Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll processing, payroll tax regulations, and wage and hour laws required. Ability to research, interpret, and apply payroll regulations while serving as an internal payroll compliance resource to HR, Finance, and Operations. This position assists with month-end close, compliance requirements, and financial analysis while helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience.
  • Working knowledge of multi-state payroll, payroll tax regulations, and federal and state wage and hour laws.
  • Two (2) or more years of accounting, payroll, or related financial experience.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and payroll processing.
  • Knowledge of payroll tax reporting, quarterly and annual payroll filings, garnishments, child support orders, benefit deductions, and payroll reconciliations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/payroll systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, payroll administration, and payroll tax requirements.
  • Knowledge of Payroll regulations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports and supporting documentation.
  • Support project accounting, work-in-progress reporting, and cost tracking activities.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Process and audit weekly and semi-monthly payrolls.
  • Research, interpret, and apply federal, state, and local payroll regulations; provide guidance regarding payroll compliance, wage and hour requirements, payroll tax matters, and related employment laws.
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts and support payroll tax, certified payroll, and year-end reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to maintain accurate employee, benefit, deduction, and tax information within payroll systems.
  • Partner with Human Resources to evaluate and implement payroll-related regulatory changes, system enhancements, policy updates, and process improvements.
  • Assist with internal and external audits and compliance requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting, payroll, and financial processes.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
