About The Position

The Staff Accountant, Partnership Accounting is responsible for accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of operator partnerships, with emphasis on monthly intercompany consolidation, journal entries, reconciliations, and billbacks under US GAAP, SOX, and Company policy. The role serves as a day-to-day accounting contact for Welltower's operating partners, works across RIDEA and non-RIDEA structures, and partners with internal accounting teams to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data. The successful candidate is detail-oriented, asks good questions, builds strong relationships, and is motivated to develop deep technical command of Welltower accounting fundamentals.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of public or corporate accounting experience is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
• Knowledge of accounting theory, including GAAP and IFRS, is preferred.
• CPA preferred or strong desire to pursue.
• Experience with Yardi, OneStream, Blackline, or similar accounting and reporting systems is a plus.
• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and verification of employment, education, and other credentials relevant to the position.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the day-to-day accounting contact for assigned operators, responding to inquiries, leading routine operator meetings, escalating matters to management as appropriate, and building trusted working relationships.
• Maintain accurate books and records for assigned partnership entities, including preparation of journal entries to support a complete and accurate monthly close.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations for assigned accounts, maintaining complete working papers that support all balances and driving timely resolution of reconciling items.
• Review monthly operator financial submissions and perform analytical review of financial and operating results, investigating variances, anomalies, and incomplete data prior to close.
• Perform monthly consolidation and intercompany elimination procedures, identifying the source of consolidation issues, resolving them with management, and ensuring activity is recorded in the correct period.
• Apply the appropriate accounting treatment across RIDEA and non-RIDEA structures.
• Perform key internal controls for partnership accounting, prepare documentation supporting SOX requirements, and assist with internal audit requests.
• Support the accounting for acquisitions, dispositions, and other transaction activity affecting operator-accounted properties.
• Document processes and procedures and contribute process improvement ideas.
• Perform ad-hoc analysis and other duties as required.
