About The Position

Cadrex is seeking a Staff Accountant II to support the accounting operations of our Agawam, MA manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Plant Controller, this role owns recurring general ledger and month-end close activities and supports inventory, cost accounting, and plant finance processes. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, is analytical and detail-oriented, and is comfortable taking ownership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience; preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Inventory, fixed asset, or manufacturing cost accounting exposure preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Experience with ERP environments; ability and curiosity to learn system workflows and reporting.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate root causes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and take ownership with limited supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post recurring and moderately complex journal entries, including accruals, prepaids/amortization, payroll-related entries, cash activity, intercompany, and other assigned close entries.
  • Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve reconciling items timely.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including trial balance downloads/uploads, standard reporting, balance validation, and close schedules.
  • Support inventory accounting, including cycle count report generation and tracking, routine inventory adjustments, initial variance research, inventory reconciliations, and physical inventory activities.
  • Maintain fixed asset and capital project records, including additions, transfers, disposals, depreciation, and construction-in-progress support.
  • Prepare and maintain recurring accounting schedules and support selected WIP, inventory, and cost accounting activities.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and requested documentation.
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Production, and Finance to resolve accounting issues, improve data accuracy, and strengthen transaction and inventory processes.
  • Document assigned processes, maintain effective internal controls, and build cross-training and backup coverage across the finance team.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, or automate accounting processes and reporting.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and analysis through preparation of schedules and data as assigned.
  • Perform other accounting and finance responsibilities as assigned, with opportunity to develop into more complex inventory, cost accounting, and financial analysis responsibilities over time.
