About The Position

Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University of Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular Board of Regents (BOR) and Civil Service Employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees. This is a Casual Hire temporary appointment expected to begin August 2026, or soon thereafter, and not to exceed one year.

Requirements

• Possession of a baccalaureate degree in any field from an accredited university, or equivalent experience.
• Advanced pianist with at least 2 years of experience as an accompanist for a class or other performance-based organization.
• Ability to sight-read and play sheet music quickly and skillfully, without advance preparation.
• Able to stop and start, sometimes picking up in the middle of a phrase, according to the needs of the instructor or director.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working as a piano accompanist in a college environment.
• Experience working with the demands of live-stage productions.

Responsibilities

• Piano Accompanist for the Performing Arts Department, including Chorus/Voice classes, Convocation, and required Juries or Showcases for the Fall and Spring Semester.
• Must be available for rehearsals and performances with students and faculty.
