About The Position

This position is responsible for palletizing products on pallets according to product codes and dates. The Stacker participates as a member of the team, fostering strong cohesiveness and taking responsibility to identify and resolve issues. The role requires familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems and understanding the impact of individual actions on these systems. This role is inside line work around loud equipment/machinery, with exposure to cold environments (20-45 degrees), humidity, and wetness. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as ear plugs, gloves, hair net/beard net, required footwear, smock, and freezer coat may be required depending on the location.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain company issued pallet jack license
  • Must communicate and cooperate with others.
  • Must be attentive to detail to ensure there are no mixed pallets.
  • Communication skills & decision quality - must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Place a proper empty pallet and slip sheet on line to be stacked.
  • Stack pallets according to product codes and dates.
  • Rotate each layer until pallets are at the proper case counts.
  • Participates as a member of the team.
  • Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings.
  • As a member of the team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
