The ST&S C&CM Advisor plays a key role in strengthening crisis and continuity management across Supply, Trading & Shipping (ST&S), with a particular focus on RS&M activities in the Americas. The role supports the transition of RS&M into ST&S and contributes to building, maintaining, and improving C&CM plans, procedures, and response capabilities. This position is responsible for developing and updating ST&S crisis and continuity plans, coordinating closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure information remains accurate and current. The advisor supports the design and delivery of training and exercises for ST&S response teams and contributes to the operational resilience programme for Shipping, helping align resilience efforts across ST&S and the wider bp organization. Key responsibilities also include maintaining ST&S on‑call structures, emergency response systems, and office-based facilities, as well as supporting continuous improvement by leading or assisting in lessons-learned reviews following incidents. The role additionally supports tracking and maintenance of the global ST&S C&CM budget. The advisor also mentors response teams and participates in the on‑call rota, requiring full availability (24/7) when on duty to respond to emergencies.

Requirements

  • Experience in crisis management and business continuity / operational resilience programmes, involving operational risk.
  • Experience in incident response, crisis management or operational response to incidents, and/or response experience in an operating business.
  • Experience in preparing concise plans or reports.
  • Experience leading and/or facilitating discussions and meetings.
  • Experience delivering training sessions for a variety of audiences and coaching teams.
  • Experience working in the energy industry.
  • Experience working in high pressured situations with the ability to prioritise work when faced with multiple requirements, and the ability to progress issues when only partial information is available.
  • Awareness of agile methodologies and tools

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and delivery of the Crisis & Continuity Management (C&CM) programme for RS&M for the Americas.
  • Support the transition of RS&M into ST&S
  • Support the development and maintenance of Supply, Trading & Shipping (ST&S) C&CM plans and procedures, collaborating closely with internal and external bodies to maintain up to date information.
  • Support the development and delivery of training and exercises for ST&S response teams
  • Support the Operational Resilience (Business Continuity Management) Programme for the Shipping teams; and work with the wider ST&S C&CM team to support the delivery of coordinated operational resilience across ST&S and the wider bp
  • Supporting the maintenance of ST&S on-call teams, systems, and office-based emergency response facilities
  • Actively contributes to the ST&S C&CM continuous improvement, through leading or assisting lessons learnt reviews from incidents; and implementing iterative improvements.
  • Support the maintenance and tracking of the Global ST&S C&CM budget.
  • Mentor response teams and perform on-call duties. When on duty, the role holder will be required to be available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.
