About The Position

U.S.VETS, the nation’s largest nonprofit dedicated to preventing and ending veteran homelessness, is seeking an SSVF Team Leader to support and supervise staff serving veterans and their families through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. This role is ideal for someone who can lead a team, support direct services, and help ensure positive outcomes for veterans facing homelessness or housing instability. As the SSVF Team Leader, you will provide guidance and supervision to direct service staff while supporting the delivery of housing-focused case management services to veterans and their families. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, you will help oversee daily operations, monitor program compliance, and ensure quality services are being delivered effectively. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines supervision, client support, outreach, and program accountability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with homeless and/or at-risk veterans and families
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license required; must meet company insurance requirements and complete driver training
  • Must have a registered and insured personal vehicle for field-based client visits; mileage reimbursement provided

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with housing-focused case management and community outreach preferred
  • Experience with HMIS and case management documentation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support case managers and direct service staff
  • Assist veterans and families with obtaining and maintaining permanent housing
  • Support intake, eligibility screening, housing plans, and service coordination
  • Visit shelters, treatment programs, community locations, and other outreach sites to connect veterans to services
  • Support staff and clients through field-based case management services
  • Conduct case file audits, monitor HMIS documentation, and ensure data accuracy
  • Assist with reporting, program metrics, and compliance deliverables
  • Collaborate with VA staff, landlords, community agencies, and service providers
  • Ensure Temporary Financial Assistance requests are reviewed properly and meet eligibility requirements
  • Help maintain communication, accountability, and staff development
