About The Position

This role is responsible for the accurate logging, documentation, and management of client medications, ensuring compliance with DePaul's policies and NYS Office of Mental Health regulations. The Medication Coordinator acts as a liaison between residents, healthcare providers, and staff to ensure timely and accurate medication management and appointment scheduling. The position also involves overseeing the self-medication process, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring a clean and organized medication room.

Requirements

  • High School diploma / GED
  • Excellent organizational skills as demonstrated by prior medication management experience, or advanced educational degree
  • One (1) year experience working with medications
  • Must be at least Eighteen (18) years of age

  • A clean NYS driving record as outlined in DePaul’s personnel policy is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Properly logs in all client medications, checking labels for accuracy, completing proper documentation, and storing medications according to policy and regulations.
  • Makes copies of prescriptions, updates client charts, and the medication and treatment record for new or changed prescriptions.
  • Inventories medication counts to identify medications needing to be ordered.
  • Ensures prescriptions are refilled as needed.
  • Ensures effective systems for ordering all medications.
  • Acts as a liaison with residents, doctors, pharmacies, providers, and residential staff for medication ordering and appointment scheduling.
  • Oversees the supervision of all residents’ medications in accordance with physician’s orders, agency policy, and NYS Office of Mental Health regulations.
  • Reviews the Medications Administration Record (MAR) daily for accuracy.
  • Reports significant issues regarding client medications to supervisors.
  • Assists with training and orientation of new staff regarding medication supervision.
  • Monitors and documents all residents involved in the self-medication process.
  • Respects and maintains resident confidentiality and demonstrates a caring, positive attitude.
  • Ensures the medication room is clean, organized, quiet, and welcoming.
  • Performs other duties necessary for the effective operation of the program and medication room.
