About The Position

Central Transport is hiring an SR Yard Manager to oversee yard operations at its Chicago Ridge, Illinois terminal. The role involves directing freight and trailer movement, managing and supporting a team of switchers, tracking trailer inventory, ensuring trailers are loaded appropriately, and maintaining safe, compliant operations. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Compensation is up to $65,000 plus a quarterly bonus.

Nice To Haves

Experience in transportation, consolidation, cross-docking, or a shipping and receiving environment is preferred but not required.
An associate or bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Ensure carriers are properly loaded by monitoring trailer cube and weight.
Provide leadership and accountability to a team of switchers.
Direct the flow of internal and external customer freight as it enters the yard.
Communicate and assign trailer moves throughout the terminal.
Oversee the placement and movement of tractor trailers within the lot while tracking and recovering inventory.
Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT and OSHA standards.
Ensure compliance with the company operational model.
Support a culture of excellence in product quality for internal and external customers.
