About The Position

The Senior Warehouse Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for warehouse personnel, inventory management, cargo handling, customer service, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining full accountability for safety, productivity, service levels, and cost performance. The Senior Warehouse Manager is responsible for leading warehouse and distribution operations that support ocean carrier services, container freight station (CFS) activities, transload operations, import/export cargo handling, and value-added logistics services. This role ensures the safe, compliant, and efficient movement of cargo through warehouse facilities while supporting vessel schedules, customer requirements, customs regulations, and financial objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, transportation, or related field; or a combination of post- high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.
  • 8–12+ years of leadership within warehouse, logistics, transportation, or supply chain environments, with at least 5 years managing warehouse operations that support ocean freight, container logistics, port operations, or international supply chains.
  • Experience leading large teams in high-volume logistics environments.
  • Strong knowledge of import/export operations, ocean shipping documentation, and cargo handling processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and inventory control systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Teams, Outlook and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with container freight station (CFS) operations.
  • Experience supporting marine terminals or ocean carrier logistics networks.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • APICS/ASCM CSCP or CLTD certification.
  • Knowledge of customs compliance, bonded warehouse operations, and international trade regulations.
  • GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) system knowledge and certification process.
  • Previously developed internal relationships highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all warehouse activities including receiving, storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, cross-docking, transloading, and outbound distribution.
  • Manage import and export cargo flows associated with ocean carrier operations.
  • Coordinate container stripping, stuffing, consolidation, and deconsolidation activities.
  • Ensure cargo is processed accurately and efficiently to support vessel schedules and customer commitments.
  • Optimize warehouse space utilization, cargo throughput, and equipment deployment.
  • Partner with terminal operations, drayage providers, rail carriers, customs brokers, and transportation teams to ensure seamless cargo movement.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound container scheduling to minimize dwell time and detention costs.
  • Monitor cargo flow from port terminals to warehouse facilities and customer destinations.
  • Support peak-season planning and contingency management for port disruptions and supply chain challenges.
  • Lead warehouse managers, supervisors, and hourly associates across multiple shifts.
  • Establish performance expectations and accountability measures.
  • Develop workforce plans to align staffing levels with operational demand.
  • Drive employee engagement, training, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.
  • Foster a culture focused on safety, customer service, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain strong relationships with beneficial cargo owners (BCOs), freight forwarders, NVOCCs, and logistics customers.
  • Ensure customer-specific service level agreements (SLAs) are achieved.
  • Participate in customer reviews and operational performance discussions.
  • Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities for service expansion and operational enhancements.
  • Ensure accurate inventory management and cargo visibility through warehouse management systems.
  • Lead cycle count programs and inventory audits.
  • Investigate and resolve cargo discrepancies, shortages, overages, and damage claims.
  • Maintain compliance with customer inventory requirements and reporting standards.
  • Develop and manage warehouse operating budgets.
  • Monitor labor, equipment, and facility expenses.
  • Drive productivity improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Analyze operational and financial performance metrics to improve profitability.
  • Support annual planning, forecasting, and capital expenditure requests.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, DOT, TSA, CBP, CTPAT, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Lead safety programs, audits, incident investigations, and corrective action plans.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous cargo handling requirements when applicable.
  • Maintain facility security standards and cargo integrity protocols.
  • Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Analyze KPIs and operational data to identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Lead warehouse technology implementations and automation projects.
  • Standardize best practices across facilities and operating shifts.
