About The Position

The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Administration is a key executive leader responsible for shaping and overseeing CAO of WNY’s enterprise wide administrative, operational, and infrastructure strategy. This role ensures the organization operates with excellence, efficiency, and integrity across all sites and service areas, strengthening CAO’s capacity to deliver high quality programs that reduce poverty and empower families throughout Western New York. The SVP provides strategic oversight of operations, facilities, safety, administrative systems, enterprise risk management, compliance (non HR), vendor management, and organizational effectiveness. As a senior member of the Executive Leadership Team, the SVP serves as a strategic partner to the President & CEO and collaborates closely with the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and program executives to ensure alignment across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred (MBA, MSW, MPA, or related).
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, administration, facilities, enterprise risk, workforce development, or low-income housing.
  • Experience at the executive level in a complex, multi-site human services or non-profit organization is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational transformation and enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Ability to consistently exercise independent judgment, discretion, and decision-making.
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong commitment in maintaining confidentiality.
  • Must be able to read, write routine reports, and speak effectively with a diverse community.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and proof of motor vehicle insurance coverage
  • Completion of the following documents: CAO Employment application, NYS SCR Clearance Form with acceptable clearance, Criminal Record Certification and free of criminal convictions of crimes against children (misdemeanor or felony), Fingerprinting required, Release for Reference Checks

Responsibilities

  • Supervise several departments, set strategic performance goals, drive team productivity, and evaluate performance.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to the CEO on organizational strategy, operational priorities, and enterprise risk.
  • Lead long term administrative strategy aligned with CAO’s strategic plan and mission.
  • Represent CAO externally with partners, funders, and regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations related to operations, facilities, and administrative functions.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of organizational policies, procedures, and administrative controls.
  • Oversee organizational accountability systems to support operational efficiency, documentation standards, and ethical business practices.
  • Coordinate administrative review processes and corrective action planning to strengthen organizational performance and reduce operational risk.
  • Maximizes quality improvement opportunities.
  • Provide executive oversight of property management across all CAO sites, ensuring safe, compliant, and mission ready environments.
  • Lead enterprise wide operational planning, workflow optimization, and technology modernization.
  • Oversee major capital projects, facility upgrades, and long term infrastructure planning.
  • Ensure administrative systems support high quality service delivery across all programs.
  • Support Board committees related to housing, DART and infrastructure.
  • Provide executive level reporting and strategic updates to the Board of Directors.
  • Assist in developing ideas, prepares and submits proposals designed to increase unrestricted funds.
  • Monitor the agency’s strategic plan and develop recommendations for improving the pace and quality of achievement of the goals and objectives established therein
  • Assist in the development of for-profit initiatives to generate revenue for the agency
  • Satisfactory completion of mandatory training.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
