About The Position

Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr Underwriter! This role involves classifying mortality risks in a sound, objective, and consistent manner by applying company guidelines and philosophies with consideration for company profitability and marketplace needs. Sound financial underwriting and product knowledge is required, along with an understanding of Symetra and life insurance industry practices. Handling and approval authority expectations are for at least $1,000,000 or based upon management discretion.

Requirements

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to exercise good underwriting judgment with decisiveness while handling full underwriting caseload.
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task effectively
• Ability to communicate in clear and concise manner.
• Thorough knowledge of underwriting principals, practices, departmental procedures, insurance medicine, financial underwriting, field operations, product offerings and life insurance contract law.
• High School diploma or equivalent experience required
