Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Commercial Lines underwriting
• Strong computer literacy skills
• Strong ability to influence and effectively negotiate with stakeholders
• Strong analytical skills; able to quickly interpret data, information, reports
• Strong customer service, verbal and written communication skills
• Professional, friendly and courteous in all interactions, with both customers and co-workers
• Perform well in a busy environment and remains calm under pressure
• Team player that is adaptable to a changing environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in French and good English skills
• Strong problem solving abilities
• Well developed analytical skills
• Ability to weigh many complex factors to ultimately make sound decisions, and explain your rationale
• Work ethic drives you to take on challenges and see them through to completion
• Collaborate well with others, sharing your ideas, and listening to and integrating those of others
• Professional communication in both English and French, oral and written is a must
• High degree of proficiency in English is required to service customers, both internal to the company and external, across Canada.
• Successful clearance of background checks (including criminal checks and leadership references)

Responsibilities

• Assess, accept, and decline new business submissions
• Re-underwrite and negotiate renewals, and policy endorsements
• Negotiate the terms and conditions of risk acceptance with brokers in writing, by telephone, electronic mail or in person
• Develop and maintain positive broker relations
• Participate in production calls on brokerage offices, as required
• Provide technical support to brokers
