About The Position

AVP – E&O, Renewal Lead Lawyers Professional Liability and Miscellaneous E&O Overall Job Objectives: Underwrite and manage renewal errors & omissions portfolios for Lawyers Professional Liability (LPL) and Miscellaneous E&O products on a national basis Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, Ltd, through its subsidiaries, is a global provider of insurance and reinsurance solutions. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 7+ years underwriting experience – E&O lines preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills, and ability to multi task and handle a large volume of email, accounts, and phone calls
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
  • Willingness to travel – up to 25%25 travel
  • Must be able to think originally, be willing to challenge ideas and be receptive to having their own ideas challenged
  • Solid Writing and Communication Skills

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate errors and omissions accounts for LPL and Misc. E&O
  • Analyze potential clients and present evaluations at daily group discussions
  • Maintain, develop, and support broker relationships throughout the country
  • Manage and distribute renewal assignments across products every month
  • Maintain a renewal retention rate of at least 90%25
  • Manage and develop staff, including new underwriters as the group grows
  • Attend appropriate training sessions and conferences when deemed appropriate
  • Assist with special projects as needed under supervision of management
  • Compliance with underwriting guidelines, systems and procedures
  • General underwriting functions including underwriting submission review, pricing analysis, setting of terms and conditions, and quote/binder/invoice authorizations
  • Seek input from Actuarial Department to set process specific accounts when appropriate
  • Liaise with Claims Department on any specific claim activity and overall market claims concerns, which could potentially affect profitability
  • Consistent with Internal Audit department procedures, achieve compliance with all underwriting and administrative guidelines
  • Marketing – attend client/broker meetings, lunches, dinners and other social outings as applicable. Meet with key brokers regularly to discuss production, service and other topics relative to division operations
  • Stay current with respect to major industry issues and developments
  • Provide specific reports as needed by senior staff
  • Other duties as assigned
