Your Role: As a Sr. Trial Attorney, you will handle a full inventory of complex litigated files, including discovery, arbitration, mediation and trials, with minimal management oversight. This attorney will also be expected to advise and mentor less senior attorneys. Your Work: This role may be performed remotely anywhere in the U.S., but candidates must be actively licensed and in good standing with the California Bar. Attorneys are required to travel when appropriate for certain appearances, including arbitrations and trials. We also gather occasionally in person with our teams for certain meetings and events. Applies independent analysis and judgment to prepare legal pleadings, motions, discovery, trial documents, etc. with close coordination and input from claims specialists. Appears and advocates on behalf of CSAA IG and its member insureds. Conducts all phases of personal injury litigation including investigation, discovery, motions, arbitration hearings and jury trials. Is assigned and responsible for the most complex and/or highest value cases. Works on and responsible for handling complex legal matters or projects including matters not in litigation. Serves as a resource and resolves major issues within legal specialty area with considerable independence. Anticipates and advises on potential legal issues significantly impacting insurance and motor club operations. No billable hours

Requirements

  • 10-12+ years of experience in insurance defense practice with considerable courtroom and first-chair trial experience
  • Requires Juris Doctorate and license to practice law in California
  • Proficient in personal injury litigation including liability assessment, causation, damages, coverage, personal injury damages and causation and the tri-partite relationship
  • Ability to work collaboratively with assigned paralegal(s) and support staff
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate verbally and in writing in an organized and timely manner
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS office and online research tools
  • Ability to manage case inventory of complex cases with a high degree of efficiency.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in an organized and timely manner
  • Ability to advocate creatively, persuasively and effectively
  • Advanced analytical and legal skills including the ability to think and act independently in a client’s best interest
  • Knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of legal ethics
  • Actively licensed and in good standing with the California Bar.
