About The Position

The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is seeking a Tier II Network Technician to support various WAN and LAN networks. This role will provide incident resolution, routing changes, and firewall changes. The technician will act as a subject matter expert in WAN and LAN technologies and support intra- and inter-net and other data communications systems or segments of networked systems. The job duties include supporting the installation and maintenance of client LAN/WAN devices, responding to and resolving incident tickets, and drafting and implementing standard network change requests. The role also involves providing support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects, performing configuration management functions, and coordinating network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades. Additionally, the technician will configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching, perform COMSEC custodian duties, and support the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of encryption devices.

Requirements

TS SCI with Poly
16 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education (Doctorate and 8 years, master’s and 10 years, bachelor’s and 12 years, associates and 14 years or HS diploma and 16 years).
Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
Working knowledge of basic routing fundamentals.
Working knowledge of layer 2 switching concepts.
Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes.
Layer 1 and Layer 2 network experience (CAT5, Single Mode (SM)/Multimode (MM) Fiber, Serial cables, Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP)).
Knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) models.
Knowledge of Cisco Internetworking Operating System (IOS), Juniper JUNOS, and the Brocade and Foundry Operating System (OS).
Familiarity with Layer 3 protocols such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP), Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP), Multiprotocol label switching (MPLS), Language Server Protocol (LSP), and Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE).
Familiarity with Microsoft Visio, ServiceNow, and Atlassian Confluence.
Working knowledge of Service Now or similar IT Service Management (ITSM) products.

Responsibilities

Support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices.
Respond to and resolve incident tickets.
Draft and implement standard network change requests.
Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs), and coordinate and install new equipment).
Perform configuration management functions such as update topology drawings, ensure asset management records are accurate, and conduct inventory.
Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades.
Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), Port Security, and Thin Configurations).
Perform COMSEC custodian duties, ensuring the proper handling, storage, and safeguarding of cryptographic materials in compliance with U.S. Government Polices.
Maintain accountability and inventory control of COMSEC equipment, keying material, and related documentation.
Support the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of encryption devices, including TACLANEs and other secure communication equipment.
Support network security operations, ensuring COMSEC integration aligns with overall cybersecurity requirements.
