About The Position

Come join the City of Fort Collins Video Services team! We’re looking for a self-starter with great organizational skills with some general experience in video or broadcast and a willingness to learn. You will be supporting live City and County meetings and events by broadcasting these through our local cable channel and online platforms. You will be helping with organizing and archiving video footage and supporting video producers in their projects (including interviews, B-Roll and social videos), as well as having opportunities to do some filming and editing (using Adobe Creative Cloud) in support of City communications.

Requirements

Knowledge and expertise with various video production equipment including video switchers, audio mixers, remote cameras, computers and projection systems
Skilled in time management and scheduling techniques
Skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud and other current video creation software
Skilled in digital file management and file transfers
Ability to work independently to complete assignments within deadlines and budget constraints
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of individuals, including elected officials, residents, community members and city employees
Ability to understand and work with a brand guide to help reinforce and represent the City brand in a consistent and appropriate way.
Ability to retain knowledge of City and County political and organizational structures
Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate weekend and evening assignments
High School Diploma or GED and or functionally related licenses or certificates
5 or more years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Progressively responsible experience in video/cable casting industry with expertise using the following equipment: Video switchers, audio mixers, remote pan/tilt cameras, character generator, various PC and MAC-based software programs preferred.

Some positions may require functionally related certification or advanced degrees
Bachelor’s Degree in Television Production/ Media production/ Technical Journalism from an accredited college

Responsibilities

Responsible for broadcasting live City of Fort Collins and Larimer County meetings over the City’s Cable Channel and online video platforms
Operates cameras, audio equipment, video switcher, character generator, computers and various recording devices during productions.
Provides special set-up as required; including microphones, laptops, lighting and other equipment as needed
Provides onsite technical support for video equipment during events and meetings as needed
Uploads video content to internal and external servers and maintains a digital archive of all meetings recorded
Tracks information for Larimer County IGA and reports general Video Services project progress to Video Services Supervisor as required
Responsible for Video Services administrative duties that include but are not limited to statistical reporting, SharePoint maintenance and development, and organizing and tagging video footage within a digital library
Works with Video staff to determine programs to be broadcast and creates replay schedules for public use; enters schedule data into a video server, updates schedule online and distributes schedule to affected parties
Works independently or with others to broadcast or video record a variety of programs for Video Services in various City and County locations; this can include both field and studio production
May include video recording training sessions or guest speakers on location as needed
Participates in Video Services planning and production meetings to coordinate and deliver completed projects within scheduled deadlines
Tests equipment to determine technical quality of recording, audio and lighting apparatus prior to operation in studio or in the field; may be responsible for minor equipment repairs or maintenance
Works in a team environment to create, plan and deliver high-quality video content, including but not limited to meetings, events, trainings and overview videos for broadcast and social use
Updates the City’s digital bulletin board, incorporating supplied graphics and other quality enhancing effects as needed
Assists in department equipment inventories, office systems and operational resources to support efficient day-to-day operations
