About The Position

KBR Technical Services, Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking a Sr. Technical Professional - Structural. This role involves creating designs, specifications, and services for structures and foundations made of concrete, steel, or engineered products. The professional will perform all conventional aspects of the structural engineering field, devise new approaches to problems, and plan and conduct work requiring independent evaluation and adaptation of engineering techniques. The position also involves performing work with complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitable materials, and difficult coordination. Responsibilities include providing technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers, potentially leading functional areas on projects, and contributing to employee performance appraisals. The role requires preparing and reviewing calculations and drawings to meet project requirements and design codes using STAAD and MAT 3D, and assigning work to draftsmen. Telecommuting is permitted up to 20% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field
  • 4 years of experience in downstream plant engineering and design
  • 4 years of experience in creating structure analysis models
  • 4 years of experience in organizing and coordinating with other disciplines and team members in order to complete designs
  • 4 years of experience in designing steel and concrete structures and preparing calculations to meet project requirements
  • 4 years of experience in designing codes utilizing STAAD and MAT 3D

Responsibilities

  • Create designs, specifications and services related to structures and foundations made of concrete, steel, or engineered products.
  • Perform all conventional aspects of the functional area subject matter.
  • Devise new approaches to problems encountered.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Perform work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers.
  • May lead a functional area on a small project or a segment of a larger project.
  • Contribute to employee performance appraisals and coach lower-level professionals.
  • Prepare and review calculations and drawings to meet the project requirements and design codes utilizing STAAD and MAT 3D.
  • Assign work to draftsmen.
