About The Position

Blue Canyon Technologies (BCT), a small satellite manufacturer and mission services provider, is seeking a Sr. Technical Product Manager to own the technical direction of one of BCT's product lines. This role involves navigating between customers, engineering, the business, and the industry to shape roadmaps, frame tradeoffs, and align stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industry needs and market signals to create relevant, repeatable, and valuable products. This is a high-ownership, low-ceremony role focused on making BCT's mission of enabling space missions a reality for the assigned product line. The company values individuals who approach ambiguous problems with curiosity and proactively work to remove constraints.

Requirements

  • A technical degree (Systems, Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or similar) and 7+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals, with the ability to think through interactions between engineering domains (mechanical, electrical, software, thermal, etc.).
  • A track record of owning or meaningfully shaping a product or subsystem across multiple programs.
  • A solid grasp of the spacecraft product lifecycle (concept through qualification, production, and sustainment, including TRLs) and the judgment to make sound, risk-based calls with incomplete data.
  • The ability to work across Engineering, BD, Program Management, and Operations.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions that land with both customers and internal teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • GNC engineering experience — extra points for familiarity with BCT systems.
  • Spacecraft systems engineering experience with direct experience in a subsystem BCT supports (ADCS, Power, C&DH, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with a component solution BCT supplies or competes against (star trackers, reaction wheels, CMGs, torque rods, sun sensors, SADAs, batteries, solar arrays).
  • Technical product management or team leadership.
  • Configurable or variant-based product lines across diverse customer needs.
  • Trade studies and parametric analysis.
  • Familiarity with specs, SOWs, and subcontract technical inputs.
  • Flight-program experience under schedule pressure.
  • MATLAB or Python.
  • JIRA or similar planning/tracking tools.
  • A "figure it out and get it done" instinct.
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product roadmap for your assigned line from concept through qualification and production, and influence the roadmaps of the components it depends on.
  • Be the technical voice of the customer, translating mission requirements, feedback, and market trends into clear priorities for engineering.
  • Champion the product externally by presenting improvements and roadmaps at industry conferences, shaping technical papers, and communicating the "art of the possible" to customers.
  • Lead customer technical exchanges and reviews, communicating status, risk, and direction credibly.
  • Drive early-phase product decisions, including architecture, requirements, qualification scope, and trade studies balancing performance, cost, manufacturability, and mission goals.
  • Support proposals and investment planning by contributing technical content, ROMs, schedules, and risk posture, and by scoping IRAD/CRAD opportunities.
  • Provide technical guidance on interfaces, architecture, and design intent to maintain product line consistency.
  • Mentor Level 1/2 engineers.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • May include personnel management responsibilities.

Benefits

  • Employer sponsored health, dental, and vision benefits effective the first of the month following hire date
  • Life insurance
