About The Position

This role is responsible for managing and supervising Technical Designers, leading fit sessions with cross-functional teams to evaluate garment fit, construction, and styling. The individual will resolve fit issues, communicate solutions to vendors, and maintain the accuracy of tech pack specifications and construction pages. They will also establish pattern libraries and construction standards, ensuring brand consistency in fit, spec, and construction. Collaboration with the Design team in the initial stages of tech pack development, translating sketches into specifications, and reviewing tech packs for accuracy are key aspects of this position. The role may require travel to Asia and involves performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Degree in fashion design, apparel production or textiles
  • Minimum 10 years of proven technical design experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of pattern making knowledge
  • Minimum of 3+ yrs of women’s bottom (pants, skirts, shorts) experience
  • Denim experience minimum of 3+ years
  • Advance knowledge of garment construction, fabric characteristics and garment performance standards
  • Working knowledge of digital pattern systems, PLM systems, Illustrator and Excel
  • Demonstrated strong grading knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment with a keen sense of urgency
  • Ability to work as a team member across multiple cross-functional teams
  • Ability to flex between multiple product categories
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes and be self-motivated

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise assigned Technical Designer/s
  • Lead/direct fit session on live model with cross-functional teams (Design/Merchants/Product Development) to evaluate garment fit, constructions and styling details.
  • Articulate fit issues and present solutions during fit sessions to cross-functional teams.
  • Resolve fit issues and clearly communicate to vendors via Bamboo Rose PLM system, illustrator and/or pattern corrections within a 24-72 hour turn time.
  • Accurately apply grade rules and make pattern corrections.
  • Maintain accuracy of tech pack specs and construction pages.
  • Establish and maintain library of patterns of basic blocks.
  • Establish construction standards for all fabric types.
  • Establish and maintain brand fit, spec and construction consistency.
  • Collaborate with Design in initial stages of tech pack spec development.
  • Translate design sketches and/or sample into spec and construction pages.
  • Review tech packs prior to turn over for accuracy.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Travel to Asia as needed.
