About The Position

Assembles machines, equipment, and their subassemblies following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications. This role also serves as the focal point for repairing product returned by Customers. The assembler diagnoses and troubleshoots hardware and software product issues, providing timely and effective solutions. They follow documented procedures to assemble and test company products, ensuring the highest quality standards. Adherence to SIO procedures and processes, including ESD, FAIR sheets, and the MRD process, is required. The role involves using hand tools and power tools as specified by product requirements and following approved test procedures for functional testing of assembled units. Additionally, the assembler performs disassembly of OEM product and packages completed product for shipping. A key responsibility is repairing customer service equipment by reviewing service requests, identifying necessary parts and equipment, and maintaining accurate repair records, including product serial numbers, parts replaced, and reasons for product failure. This information is then funneled to the Customer Service Lead for entry into the company RMA database.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Technician in an electronics manufacturing or related field.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or eight to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally may need to “team lift” up to 100lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software product issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
  • Follow documented procedures to assemble and test company products to ensure the highest quality standards.
  • Adhere to SIO procedures and processes including ESD, FAIR sheets, MRD process and others required.
  • Use hand tools and power tools in assembly process as required by the product specifications.
  • Follow approved test procedures to determine testing method and equipment for functional testing of units assembled.
  • Perform disassembly of OEM product.
  • Package completed product to ready for shipping.
  • Review service request to determine the reason the unit is malfunctioning.
  • Identify the parts and equipment needed for the repair and acquire material.
  • Keep clear, concise and accurate records of each repair including information such as product serial numbers, parts replaced, reported reason for product failure and actual cause for product failure.
  • Funnel repair information to the Customer Service Lead who enters it into the company RMA database.
