Sr Technical Architect - LinOS

LineageNovi, MI

About The Position

At Lineage, we are redefining temperature-controlled logistics, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, advance sustainability, and transform the global food supply chain. The LinOS Engineering team is at the forefront of this evolution, driving forward cutting-edge solutions that reimagine industry standards. LinOS is Lineage’s Industrial Operating System, a cutting-edge platform integrating warehouse management, warehouse control, and automation to ultimately optimize operations across our 400+ global warehouses. This platform is composed of several, tightly integrated applications, including a proprietary warehouse management system (WMS), a proprietary warehouse control system (WCS), a collection of next-generation mobile and web applications, an array of advanced decision-making algorithms, and an API/coordination layer to ensure that all these components can communicate and coordinate effectively. The result is LinOS—a system-directed warehouse execution system that is intended to improve the efficiency and productivity of our warehouse operations.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Proven experience developing large-scale, cross-system API interactions.
  • Strong technical architecture and software design experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work diplomatically with different teams to find a common solution.
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed engineering teams.
  • Experience in multiple software ecosystems, especially JVM, node.js and React Native.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based, highly-scalable architectures.
  • Familiarity with technologies used to define and document API specifications (OpenAPI etc).
  • Experience with medium-to-large enterprise relational databases.
  • Strong cross-system troubleshooting abilities.
  • Familiarity with modern development methodologies (Agile, CI/CD, DevOps best practices).

Responsibilities

  • Design API Interactions for New Functionality: Participate in design sessions for new warehouse functionality, understanding not just the "what" but the "why" of the new feature. Understand the responsibility of each LinOS subsystem, so that you can divide new functionality between them and design the necessary cross-system interactions. Collaborate with the leads of each LinOS subsystem to refine the new cross-system interactions. Communicate the new functionality and interactions to the development teams via documentation and training sessions, so that they understand the role of their subsystem in the new behavior and can implement it effectively and efficiently.
  • Improve Overall System Performance and Quality: Understand and improve LinOS's cross-system monitoring and telemetry capabilities. Identify system bottlenecks and spearhead work to improve overall system performance. Be the "last expert" to diagnose system issues, called in for the most important or difficult-to-diagnose problems.
  • Be the "Overall Expert" on LinOS: Serve as a resource for teams and individuals with questions about how LinOS operates. Develop documentation and training for new team members to come up-to-speed on LinOS.
