About The Position

Supermicro is seeking an experienced Sr. Systems Validation Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for providing system-level validation and hands-on technical support to strategic customers, with a strong focus on on-site troubleshooting during data center deployments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth deployments, rapidly isolate and resolve issues on problematic nodes, racks, and system components at customer sites, drive root cause analysis, and deliver high-quality technical solutions. The ideal candidate possesses strong system-level expertise, hands-on experience with BMC and firmware validation, solid Linux OS and network troubleshooting skills, and the ability to support both remote and on-site environments for key accounts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in systems validation, firmware validation, or technical support, preferably in enterprise/server environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with BMC, IPMI, Redfish, and BIOS validation, along with system-level troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to perform on-site troubleshooting of nodes, racks, and system components in customer data center environments.
  • Solid hands-on experience with Linux OS (system administration, log analysis, performance troubleshooting, and scripting).
  • Strong network troubleshooting skills, including TCP/IP, switch configuration, VLAN, and connectivity issue isolation.
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise customers and handling complex technical issues.
  • Experience with on-site deployment support or customer data center environments is required.
  • Solid understanding of validation methodologies, test planning, and defect tracking processes.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in scripting languages, including Python and shell scripting, is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with switch validation or rack-level integration is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system-level validation and testing of IPMI, Redfish, BIOS, firmware, and software tools for strategic customers, including functional, stress, regression, and automation testing.
  • Provide hands-on on-site troubleshooting and issue isolation for nodes, racks, and other system components during customer data center deployments, quickly identifying and resolving hardware, firmware, and system-level problems.
  • Provide technical support for strategic customer issues by performing root cause analysis, driving resolution, and ensuring clear internal coordination and timely communication.
  • Support on-site deployment and validation activities at customer data centers in coordination with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead or participate in failure analysis for critical issues and prepare 8D reports, clearly documenting root causes, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive test plans, test procedures, evaluation reports, and customer status dashboards.
  • Participate in customer and internal issue review meetings, providing technical updates and recommendations.
  • Support global team collaboration to maintain continuous validation coverage and timely response for high-priority projects across time zones.
  • Enforce system and software quality standards while identifying opportunities to improve validation processes and support efficiency.
